The ongoing verbal exchange between Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab continues as tensions rise over the city’s issues and their approach to resolving them. In a recent statement, Mayor Wahab emphasized that the challenges Karachi faces cannot be addressed through symbolic gestures such as Iftar and Sehri gatherings, but require consistent and practical action.

Wahab, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), underscored the need for tangible steps rather than relying on propaganda. He stressed that the PPP is committed to solving the public’s problems, regardless of political affiliation.

Taking a moment for reflection, Wahab prayed for protection from those he described as “adversaries” and expressed hope that the blessings of Ramadan would bring prosperity to the city and its residents.

In his defense of the PPP’s efforts, Wahab praised Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, acknowledging him as both a close friend and a significant benefactor for the city. He revealed that, following the Governor’s suggestion, he had written a letter to the federal government requesting financial support for Karachi’s development, specifically asking for the release of Rs100 billion—a request he has been pursuing for the past eight days.

Wahab appealed to federal officials, including Governor Tessori, to ensure the release of the funds. He assured that, if granted, the money would be used with full accountability and transparency. He concluded his comments by emphasizing that while making promises and discussing issues may be easy, it is the execution of actual work that truly matters. He highlighted one of the city’s critical needs, the construction of a Northern Bypass, which he believes is essential to alleviating Karachi’s growing traffic congestion.

In response, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori addressed the comments made by the Karachi Mayor, stating that his primary focus during Ramadan is to serve the public, particularly during Sehri and Iftar times. Tessori noted that his commitment to community service during the holy month leaves him little time for anything else, especially before Sehri.
